Pure Vitamin C Powder from Cassava Root Review

vitamin c powder

I was given a bottle of Pure Vitamin C Powder to test and review from Natural Healthy Concepts.   This supplement is formulated for the Allergy Research Group and is derived from Cassava Root.  Most Vitamin C supplements are derived from corn, which is a concern to those who have corn allergies or are trying to avoid GMO’s.  Because this supplement is derived from cassava root, instead of corn, it is considered hypoallergenic and appropriate for most food sensitive individuals.

So why powdered Vitamin C?  Can’t I just take a pill?  Pills contain binding agents, extra ingredients and minerals.  This Vitamin C supplement from the Allergy Research Group is the highest quality and purity obtainable, it is free of all common allergens and does not contain preservatives, diluents or artificial additives, so you can really be sure what you are getting …PURE Vitamin C!  Also, this Pure Vitamin C is ascorbic acid in unbuffered form, and may be preferred by sensitive individuals who tolerate its mild acidity, have trouble swallowing pills, or have eroding teeth from chew tablets

Vitamin C supplements are well known for benefiting our immune system and helping us through colds, but they also support the growth of healthy tissues, help produce collagen, strengthen bones, teeth, and cartilage.  Sometimes it is difficult to get enough Vitamin C in our regular diets and it is important to take supplements to make sure we are getting all the nutrients our body needs.

This Vitamin C Powder can be added to any liquid or sprinkled on food.  I did read that Vitamin C is destroyed by heat, so I was hesitant to add it to hot beverages.  Since it is pure Ascorbic Acid, it is sour, so keep that in mind when choosing your beverage to mix with it.  I have been using this supplement for the last 2 weeks without any sensitivity and find that it mixes well with room temperature or cool water, juice or tea.

Bonus fun facts!  Did you know you can make your own Anti-Aging Vitamin C Serum, Mask or Lotion using Vitamin C Powder at home?  While reading up on Vitamin C, I came across several articles that talked about applying Vitamin C powder directly to your face to increase radiance, lighten age spots, reduce fine lines and promote collagen production!  Wow, really?!  How many of you have an Anti-Dark Spot cream at home?  Most of them use Vitamin C as the active ingredient!  Unfortunately there are also lots of other inactive ingredients that we are also putting on our faces and Vitamin C oxidizes, so these creams actually lose their effectiveness within a couple weeks.  …I am trying out several of these beauty methods with this Vitamin C powder and will write another post reviewing my findings after a few weeks.
