The Devil Wears Polish: Chocolate Lovers Reborn Review (plus No More Butterflies LE Fundraiser!)

“Brown colored polish and rainbows on chocolate” is what I’ve been singing in my head to the tune of My Favorite Things this week.  I know, I’m a dork, but I’m just SO excited about the latest collection from The Devil Wears Polish!  Tami revamped last years Chocolate Collection and added linear holo to eight yummy chocolate brown colors!  Yay, Holo all the things!   Brown, Holo, Polish, Chocolate …this collection seriously is a list of my favorite things and Tami sent me a couple to try out and review for you, yay!  I used two coats and my Vapid Lacquer Topcoat in all of these pictures.  The formula for both of them was nice, creamy and dried fast.

Chocolate Cupcake is a rich brown with a nice dose of linear holo.  I LOVE this color so much!  It really is the color of a yummy chocolate cupcake (with lots of frosting, of course!) 🙂 or a milk chocolate bar.

 

White Chocolate Caramel Cappuccino is a pretty taupe color with tons of linear holo fire.  Mmmm, white chocolate coffees are my favorite!  This one is so holo-y it even shines in low indoor natural lighting, so pretty!

ellagee’s Villainous Holo-ween Collection: Maleficent and Hades Duo Swatches & Review

I love Halloween and who doesn’t love Disney?!  So I was super excited when Laura of ellagee asked it I would review some of her polishes from the upcoming Villainous Holo-ween Collection inspired by the quirky Disney villains we all love.  This collection contains eight polish duos that are all based on a different Disney villain.  Each set has an incredible holo polish and a coordinating glitter topper.  Pre-orders for these polishes begin on 9/5/2014 and can be purchased separately or as a set.   I was sent the Maleficent and Hades Duos to swatch and review and just love them, let’s take a look…

I had to try the Maleficent Duo based on the Disney movie Sleeping Beauty first because, I’ll admit, she has always been one of the scariest and most evil villains to me.  I can still hear her voice and laugh in my head, “Fools! Idiots! Imbeciles!” and “Now shall you deal with me and all the powers of HELL! bwahaha!”

Now Shall You Deal With ME! is a sparkling lime green polish with intense linear and scattered holographic shimmer and flashes of gold.  This polish perfectly captures the color of her green flames.  The formula was flawless, I used two thin coats and my Vapid Lacquer Topcoat for all these pictures.  The holo-fire was so intense in the sun and under led lights and the gold shimmer really came through in lower lighting.

 

Mistress Of All Evil is a clear top coat with a mix of black, purple, and hot pink holo glitters.  It was made to go perfectly with Now Shall You Deal with ME!, so I tried it over that first.  Some of the other blogger/swatchers used the glitter topcoats over other colors and I LOVE the versatility with these!  You have so many options and they look amazing over so many colors.  In these pictures I used 1 coat over Now Shall You Deal With ME!  It went on so easily, no fishing, dabbing or placing the glitter needed, and as a bonus, it dried SO smooth I probably could have gotten away without a topcoat!

I know this was made to be a topper, but I sure do love a good glitter bomb and couldn’t resist trying to use it alone too.  I used 3 coats in these pictures to get full coverage.  Mistress of All Evil is SO sparkly and my camera refused to cooperate so I used a couple blurred photos to show off the bling. 🙂

Next up is the Hades Duo based on the Disney movie Hercules and I think I may love these colors even more!  Fine, I’ll admit it, I had to do a little homework for this duo …Hercules must have came out when I wasn’t watching new movies and before I had kids because it is one of the very few Disney flicks I hadn’t seen.   Well, I remedied that with a few clicks on Netflix and the kids sure didn’t mind a bit.  We’ve now watched it umpteen times and have all the songs stuck in our heads. 🙂

Whoa, Is My Hair Out?  is a sparkling aqua blue with intense linear and scattered holographic shimmer and perfectly captures the blue flames of Hades hair.  The holo in this one is insane and I couldn’t stop staring at my nails!  Again this is 2 thin coats with a top coat and the formula was flawless.

Let’s Get Ready To RUMBLE is a clear top coat with a mix of navy, indigo, and charcoal holo glitters.  In the first pictures I used 1 coat over Whoa Is My Hair Out? and application was once again perfect and so smooth.  Then I used it alone with 3 coats to get full coverage.

The weather is warming up and the color of my nails can prove it!  Today I have three super cute thermal polishes to show you from my friend Tami at The Devil Wears Polish.  For those of you who aren’t familiar, thermal polishes change colors depending on the temperature.  This is especially fun when your nails are longer and you can get a two-toned gradient effect.  …but you don’t have to have long nails to enjoy thermals!  I still find myself constantly checking to see, “What color are they now?!” 🙂

Silly Lilly is a thermal crelly that is pink when warm and purple when cold.  The color change on this one is very dramatic and super reactive to the temperature changes.   This one is so cute and is full of pretty pink and violet flaky shimmer that really shines in the sun.  I used three coats of Silly Lilly and my Vapid Lacquer top coat in these pictures.

Patty Who? is a fun green thermal jelly that changes from grass green when cold to lime green when warm.  It is loaded with different sizes of scattered holo particles and spectraflair so this one is super sparkly!  The formula was great and I used two thin coats of Patty Who? with my top coat in these pictures.

And last but certainly not least is Sweet Pea, my favorite!  Sweet Pea is a thermal linear holo that shifts from light purple when cold to light pink when warm.  Just like all of Tami’s linears, the formula was awesome. and I used two thin coats and a top coat in these pictures.

I was sent a blogger package with five polishes from a variety of collections and had a lot of fun playing with them.  I want to show you Goblin first because I was so excited to finally have a crazy color shifter!

Goblin is a beautiful green duo-chrome that shifts from olive green to bright green to a warm burgundy/brown with a micro fine scattered holo glitter to give a little sparkle.  The difference between the bright emerald green and coppery burgundy is so dramatic and in other lights it almost looks black!  The formula was great and went on smoothly and evenly.  In these pictures I have on two coats and a top coat.

Loup Garou is a clear base with warm toned micro fiber glitters that give it a fuzzy look.  I love the colors in this one, the warm Fall colors are my favorite year round.  This one went on really easily and I didn’t have any problems getting the bars to space out evenly or lay down smoothly even with just one coat.  In this first picture I have on two coats of Loup Garou over Solar Sail and a top coat.

In these next three pictures I have on 1 coat over various colors and three coats alone on my ring finger.  Wearing it alone actually ended up being my favorite and I did the rest of my nails like that for a few days.

Sideshow is a sheer blue cream base with a variety of different colors and sizes of glitter.  This one is so bright and fun, like a party popper or confetti cake.  I really enjoyed using this full sized bottle, I don’t have any others shaped like this and found it really easy use and control.  The glitters are suspended in the base perfectly making it really easy to get them out without any digging or extra dipping.  In these pictures I have on 3 coats with a top coat.

Solar Sail is a bright yellow/orange with a warm shimmer and gold flecks.  I love flakey glitter and the gold looks so pretty in this orange color.  It really shines in the sun!  This one went on really great and I have on 2 coats with a top coat in these pictures.

Waxing Whimsical is a sheer mint green jelly base with a mix of different sizes and shapes of neon pink glitter, including butterflies!  Yay!  This one is so cute, I love the sage mint and pink combo and the butterflies make me really happy! 🙂  In these pictures I have on 3 coats with a top coat.

Wantable MakeUp Box Review

Thank you so much to the wonderful people at Wantable for providing me one of their Subscription Boxes to review on my blog!  I had seen these advertised and had read some reviews on them so I was giddy when I got the opportunity to try one for myself!

Wantable offers three themes for their subscription boxes: Makeup Box, Accessories Box, Intimates Box and right now they are offering a limited edition Holiday Box too!  I picked the Makeup Box because I’ve been buying the same couple makeup brands for the last 20 years and am honestly overwhelmed by all the new brands and choices out there.  Wantable claims that you will never receive products that you do not like and guarantees satisfaction with every box.   To determine which products to include in my  box they have a survey with very specific questions about which products I liked, what colors, finishes, textures, looks etc.  After I took my survey I was confident I would love my box and couldn’t wait to get it!

My box arrived with 4 full sized products and a sample.  I seriously love and have been using them all!  Anyone who has been paying attention knows I am completely addicted and obsessed with nail polish right now and they included two polishes in my box from Rainbow Honey and LAQA & Co!   I also received a sample of Lisa Watier Eyeshadow, an amazing Marker Eyeliner from Girlactik and the coolest lip cream I have ever seen from Beauty for Real.

Let’s start with the lip cream because this one totally blew me away!  They sent me a Beauty for Real True Color Lip Cream in “Barely There” which is the perfect nude shade.  This is a full coverage and long wearing lip cream that will not smudge or bleed.  Barely There is a creamy light beige with a hint of sheer pink, just perfect for me.  …but the coolest part is the tube!  On the side of the tube is a little mirror just the right size to see your lips and the lid actually has a light in it so you can apply in the dark!  How cool is that?!  How many times have you tried to reapply lipstick in a dark restaurant or bar and just hope that it goes on right?  Problem solved!

I was super excited to add two new brands to my polish collection, both are 3-free and cruelty-free which I love!  “Wistful” from Rainbow Honey is a blushing green shimmer full of micro glitters that really sparkle in the sun.  In this picture I have on 2 coats with a top coat, but it went on so smooth, I could have probably gotten away with just 1 coat.  “Nookie” from LAQA&Co is a bright pretty berry polish perfect for adding a splash of color to your Fall or Winter wardrobe.  I really love this one!  This is a perfect one-coater and is so glossy you really don’t need a top coat, yay!  Each of the bottles from LAQA&Co are packaged in unique artwork from young designers making each box a little piece of art.

I was really impressed with the Precise Marker Liner from Girlactik Beauty.  This liner is versatile because of how easy it is to adjust the thickness of the line you want to make.  It is so easy to get a perfectly smooth thin line or build it up for a more dramatic look.  I never had any problems with it bleeding, smearing or smudging, even after a long day of chasing the kids around.

I also received a sample of Lisa Watier Ombre Souffle Supreme Eyeshadow.  These have a light creamy mousse texture and are easily applied with just your fingertips.  These eyeshadows are made with the antioxidant and anti-aging properties of the Labrador Tea extract and give the eyes a long lasting iridescent look.  I never had any problems with this fading or creasing even without a primer.

Wantable Boxes can be purchased for $40 each or you can subscribe for $36 a month.  This is a great deal, as the products in my my box had a retail value of $62!  Subscriptions are automatically shipped every month but can be skipped or canceled at any time.  You will never receive a product that you don’t like and this is such a great way to be introduced to the new brands and products available!

Northern Star Polish NEW Winter Release and GIVEAWAY

I have a bunch of pretty Northern Star Polish to show you today, some new, some old and even one Winter Polish that was literally release minutes ago!  …don’t forget to scroll to the bottom for a GIVEAWAY!

The Northern Star Winter Collection was released today at noon central and there are 12 beautiful new colors and 2 cuticle oils coming out.  I am really excited to show you Evergreen!  I was sent a prototype so the color has changed just slightly but it is still an absolutely gorgeous dark green holographic polish.  …you all know how much I love holos, I definitely squealed when Kristin slipped this into my order!  In these pictures I am wearing two coats and a topcoat.  The formula and drying time was great, this one is SO perfect for Fall and Winter!

Bronzite and Tourmaline are from the Autumn Gems Collection.  Bronzite is a dark brown polish with light gold glitter and translucent white irregular shaped glitter.  In these pictures I am wearing two coats and a top coat, but I might have been able to get away with only one coat!  It is so pretty, I love the combo of brown and gold together.

Tourmaline isn’t listed in the shop right now, but is so pretty!  It is a dark green to teal colored polish that has a speckled look with hints of emerald sparkle in the light.  In these pictures I have on 3 coats with a topcoat.

Poppy Refreshed, The Lone Gunmetal and Hey, Big Spender have been in her store for a while, but they are so pretty and I wanted to share them with you too.  I’ve been sitting on these pics for awhile because I kept thinking I wanted to re-swatch them now that my nails are longer, but for the sake of moving on I need to stop being such a perfectionist.

Poppy Refreshed has a light coral base with ultra-fine gold and coral flake glitter, pink and coral flower glitters, and gold hexes.  I love the flower glitters so much!  In these pictures I am wearing three coats and a topcoat, but this could be layered over colors to give it a different look.

The Lone Gunmetal and Hey, Big Spender are part of the Paranormal X Collection inspired by the X-Files.

The Lone Gunmetal is dusty teal color with lots of shimmer – plus blue, aqua holo, and of course gunmetal glitters!  In these pictures I have on 3 coats with a topcoat.

Hey, Big Spender is a light smoky gray base with opaline, periwinkle, white, and pastel glitters.   It is inspired by one of the creepiest villains in tv history …the Cigarette Smoking Man who is clouded in mystery and conspiracy theories.   This one can be worn alone in 2-3 coats or layered over a darker color to really make the blue glitters stand out.  In these pics I am wearing 3 coats alone with a top coat on the left and one coat layered over Smuldering on the right.

The Devil Wears Polish Customs, Holos & Anarchy

If you could have someone create any type of nail polish for you, what would you have them make?  Someone asked me this question a couple months ago and I thought of a few ideas.  Literally the next day The Devil Wears Polish posted a picture of her chocolate holo Nice & Toasty and I was floored!  This was exactly what I was picturing as one of my ideas!

That got me thinking, and I contacted Tami about another idea that I thought she would do best and Indian Summer was born.  This polish is really special and is made in remembrance of Tami’s dad.  I feel very honored to have been able to collaborate with her on this beautiful color.  Check out this collage that she made to announce its arrival …I definitely felt super warm and fuzzy seeing my mention in it. 🙂

Indian Summer is a copper jelly base containing copper hex, dark copper micro hex, and small gold dots.  It is really sheer so it can be used as a glitter topper to add some festive Fall flavor, or it can be worn on its own in 3 coats or so.  I’m always a little greedy with my color so I used 4 coats in these pictures with a top coat.  I felt like it dried really fast because I was actually packing for a road trip in between coats and every couple minutes I had to change laundry, change diapers, do dishes and I never smeared it at all! The reason why I knew she would do such a good job with this one?  Her jellies are awesome!  I bought these a while back, check out how pretty How’s Them Berries and Merman Tracks are!  Both of these are 3 coats with a top coat.  Love, love, love the large dot glitters!

The Aspiring Anarchist Collection is also available in the store now and is a cute punk themed collection inspired by by early punk bands.  Tami slipped in an extra mini of I Wanna Be Sedated with one of my orders and was so excited!  This is my favorite one from the collection, and every time I think about it I get the song by the Ramones stuck in my head.  This is a black jelly base with multi-colored neon micro glitters, matte pink and white skulls, and a dash of white micro glitter.  Pink skulls?!  Are you kidding me?  LOVE it!

Love Cooking Company Review

I have always loved crafty cooking.  I like cooking just about anything, but treats are my “specialty”, so I was super excited to get the opportunity to review some of the innovative baking products from the Love Cooking Company!  Love Cooking Co. products are designed to simplify cooking, baking, and storing items in your kitchen while creating fun new dishes with a quicker and easier process from prep to serve.  They have so many great and useful products, and I chose a couple of the baking pans that I thought I could have a lot of creative fun with.

When you hear Mrs. Fields, what do you think of?  …the best baked treats ever, right?  The Love Cooking Co has partnered with Mrs. Fields to provide high quality and unique bakeware that will inspire bonding moments in the kitchen and delicious desserts.  I chose 2 of the Mrs. Fields baking pans they offer, the Brookie Pan and the Ice Cream Cone Cupcake Pan.

The Brookie Pan is designed to bake a cookie inside of a brownie for an extra sweet and fun-looking treat.  Each brownie cup has a little pedestal to place a cookie on, then you pour the brownie mix over the cookie to fill the rest of the cup.  Mine didn’t turn out quite as pretty as I wanted because some of the brownie batter got under the cookie.  Next time I will use a thinner brownie mix and smaller cookies so that the mix can cover the back of the cookie.  Of course I was immediately thinking about what else I could possibly stuff a brownie with …maybe Reese’s? or Thin Mints? 🙂  I am also excited to use this pan for strawberry shortcakes!

The Ice Cream Cone Cupcake Pan is genius!  This is a pan that allows you to bake cupcakes in an ice cream cone!  Yes, it totally works, the cone doesn’t burn or get soggy and the decorating options are endless and SO cute!  I tried to make these last year and every one was lopsided and uneven, but this 9×13 cake pan has a lid with holes in it to hold the cones upright while cooking.  It works perfectly!  I filled the batter up to the first ridge on the ice cream cone and it baked evenly up the top of the cone.

The decorating options are endless!  I used butter cream icing and a cherry, but you could add sprinkles, use whipped cream or even put a scoop of ice cream on top!  I definitely have plans to use this again, this treat just screams Summer fun to me. 🙂

Both of these pans are made of Carbon Steel with a non-stick coating which made clean up a breeze!  Even the baked on mess just wiped off without any scrubbing.

Sweet Tea Polish Review

I have a beautiful set of polishes to show you from Sweet Tea Polish.  I love this name, Sweet Tea Polish colors are inspired by the Sweet South.  Nothing reminds me more of the South than a cold glass of really sweet iced tea.   We had the nicest Southern neighbor growing up that hooked my family onto iced tea and to this day my parents have several jugs in their fridge at all times. 🙂  Anyway, enough about tea, I love these polishes!

Darah hand mixes all of her polishes using carefully selected pigments, micas and glitters.  Sweet Tea Polishes are 3-free, made without Toluene, Formaldehyde and Dibutyl Phthalate.  I was sent a blogger package with 5 polishes to review and a cute little surprise of handmade hair ties!  …I actually used them while doing my nails, it was perfect!  Everything was packaged up so cute, you can really feel the love put into these products.  All of these polishes went on really great with quick drying time.  In all of my pictures I have on 2 coats with a top coat.  I am so excited to add these to my collection, take a look…

Daisy Dukes is a frosty blue with white, blue and silver glitters.  Yes, pretty much exactly the color of those coveted cut-off jean shorts, so cute! 🙂

Black Eyed Susan is a frosty orange bronze with black and yellow glitters.  I love big circle glitters and the black glitters make it look just like the Black Eyed Susan flowers you see on the side of the road.

Gramma’s Grape Jelly is a sheer purple with red and purple glitters.  She could not have more perfectly captured the look of fresh homemade grape jelly with the skins in it and everything!

Kiss My Bass is a sheer teal with holographic blue and green glitters. O…M…G…!!!  This one is insane and is definitely one of my all time favorite colors!  …and not just from this set!  Check out the depth in the glitters and this is only 2 coats!  The base is teal, but it gleams emerald, gold and blue.  Love, love LOVE!

Shoofly Pie is a shimmery molasses brown with a suede finish.  I love browns and this one is so pretty!  This is my first suede finish and I love the soft shimmer it gives.  This one reminded me of cake or brownie batter …and that’s never a bad thing. 😉

Seven and Parker Polish Review

I can’t even tell you how excited I was to receive this awesome blogger package from Seven and Parker of NINE minis to review!  Six of them are holos which is my new favorite finish!  …but what I love so much about reviewing products is getting to try things I might not have chosen my self …and I totally fell in LOVE with the lighter shades in this set!

Seven and Parker is a great indie polish company that will eventually expand to a full cosmetic line.  All of Seven and Parker’s polishes are 5-free, made without Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor!  Whoohoo!  I only have 2 other 5-free brands and am so excited to add another to my collection.   I seriously loved all of these.  The formula on every one was awesome and drying time was great.  I have 3 coats on with a top coat in all of my pictures, although the holos were so smooth, I could have gotten away with 2 coats.  Ok, are you ready for tons of pretty pics?

Blaylock is a deep black with a hint of blue holographic nail polish.  “Elegance meets Class in a way never imagined before.”  This one really changes depending on the light your in from black to blue or even purplish.  So pretty, I don’t have any other colors like this!

Copper Mines is a Holographic Copper Brown.  “When all else fails and you want that nice shade of vintage elegance.”  My favorite colors are brown and orange, I think I squealed when I saw this one.

Deryn is a holographic blue with microfine glitter.  “Inspired from a robin’s eggs. This lovely blue is light and airy.”  Such a pretty blue!  Check out the last picture showing how gorgeous just one coat looks.

Check out how versatile this polish is!  In this next picture I have on one thin coat with three coats on my accent nail.  It is like having 2 colors in one and they are both gorgeous!

La Vie en Rose is a Rose Holo.  “For those of you that want something more subtle than a Hot Pink, yet closer to actual roses.”   So pretty, the perfect dark pink.

Sally is a holographic purple that pulls blue and gray.  Named after The Pumpkin King’s Love, this purple is the perfect violet holo with lots of tiny micro specs in it.”  …Which is fun for me because this is my sons favorite Halloween movie and we are actually watching it right now!

Peek A Boo is a nude holo.  “Simple, Elegant and goes with everything. Need we say more?”  This may have turned out to be my unexpected favorite!

Carter is a pewter pearl gray.  “A color unlike any other. Get ready for the looks it will bring.”  Such a perfect silver!  I can’t wait to combine this with other colors like gold and red for the holidays.

Dream A Little is a light shade than when added as a coat to other colors creates incredible effects.  “Dream a Dream and add a little bit of reality for an amazing combination that you will never forget.”  I couldn’t stop thinking bridal when I saw this one.  It is so pretty, a light pearl that gleams gold gold gold!  It can be worn alone, but can also be used as an amazing top coat to add a pearly gold sheen to any color.

Pizazz is crelly with lot of different sizes, shapes and fun colors of glitter.  “A Party you might say!!! …For those with a dazzling style and vigorous spirit.”  I love crellies and this one is so cute.  It’s like a party popper bursting open or confetti flying everywhere, Weee!

Polished Expression Custom Nail Wraps Review

I have the most BEAUTIFUL nail wraps I have ever seen to share with you today and the best part is they are HANDMADE!

Deb over at Polished Expression Designs makes a variety of custom wooden home and wedding decor using reclaimed wood and materials.  Her products are so cute with a rustic shabby chic style.  She also makes stunning custom nail wraps using real nail polish!  I love the marbling nail art technique but have absolutely no interest in trying to do it myself, so when I saw her nail wraps I was really intrigued!

She makes them with real nail polish and instead of using glue or heat like other wraps, they just adhere to your regular wet base coat.   I bought a set of 12 in the Chocolate Truffle design and Deb threw in a bunch of other fun Fall colors for me to review too, yay!  I’m so glad she did, because I ended up really loving some of the other colors she sent!  I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous about the application, what if I mess it up?  I didn’t want to waste any!  After watching a tutorial that Lacquer is the Best Medicine did, I was super excited  and couldn’t wait for them to arrive.

They came laid out on wax paper and are really easy to use.  First choose which wrap you want and trim it to a bit larger than your nail.  Then paint your nail with base coat or polish and while the polish is still tacky, peal the wrap off the paper, smooth it onto your nail and press down around the sides with an orange stick to seal the edges.  Once your base coat is dry, then peal off the excess around your nail and clean up the edges.

I actually did pretty good my first time, but you will see that I got better at cleaning the edges as I went.  I tried it first on my natural nails, then on my press-ons, and liked them both.  You can use these as a whole manicure or just on an accent nail which gives you lots of options.   There are quite a few color schemes you can choose from and Deb offers custom designs too, so shoot her a message and see what she can do for you.

Beauty Bar Baby Mineral Eyeshadow Review and SALE!

I have recently been trying to use more natural beauty products, so when my friend told me about Beauty Bar Baby Mineral Makeup I jumped at the chance to buy the discounted blogger package to try them and share them with you.  All of the mineral makeup at Beauty Bar Baby is 100% all natural with NO parabens, sulfates, talc, preservatives, fragrances, dyes, or cheap fillers added.  Everything in the shop is handcrafted in small batches by Nicole.  She literally has 100’s of items and tons of colors in her shop and is constantly adding new things!  Keep reading for a special offer just for us!

I bought 2 blogger packages with 6 eye shadows each and even trying to pick just 12 colors was hard!  I decided to try both warm and cool shades so I could play around with some fun color combos.  When they arrived I was in awe!  These are definitely the prettiest eye shadows I have every owned, or even seen!  Some of them are so sparkly, I just can’t get over it!  Each eyeshadow was individually sealed in shrink wrapped plastic, so they all arrived safely with no spillage at all.

I was super excited, but honestly I had never used loose powdered eyeshadow before.  First I played around with it using q-tips and then bought a little makeup brush set at CVS.  I swatched each color on my arm, both dry and wet.  It is crazy how different they can look when applied wet!  Several of the ones I bought were eyeshadow/eyeliners and I really loved how they looked as eyeliner!  I was surprised what smooth line you can get using it this way.  Then of course I played around with a few different looks using them.  Are you ready for tons of pics?

My friend Sarah from Polish Luv turned one of her Beauty Bar Baby Eyeshadows into a nail polish and it was incredible!  Now, I don’t know anything about polish making (and I’ll leave it to the experts) but I couldn’t resist and put a little bit of Campfire into some clear base coat to see what would happen.  I really love this coppery color!

Yay, I’m so excited to have another set of polish from The Devil Wears Polish to share with you, and this one is just in time for Halloweeeeen!  Tami makes all of her polishes using a 3-free base and personally hand-mixes each bottle with lots of love and badassery and it shows!

The Devil Wears Polish has come out with a great Limited Edition Halloween Boo-tifuls Collection and she sent me two of them to try.  These are so cute, I have never owned any Halloween themed polish and they’re perfect!    First up is Jack of All Lanterns.  This one has a pumpkin orange crelly base with large black circle glitters (my fav!) and other different sized smaller black, white and yellow dot glitter.  Here I have on three coats with a top coat, and obviously black on my accent nail for fun.  I think this just might be the perfect one to wear with my candy corn witch outfit 🙂

 

Next I want to show you Tricky Treat.  I love this one and have been excited about it ever since the moment Tami announced the arrival of her skull and cross bone glitter.  That’s right, this one is a tricky treat!  It has super cute pink and purple square glitters in a white crelly base with the raddest black skull and cross bone glitters.  Here I have on 3 coats with a top coat.  This is perfect for Halloween or anytime you want to wear polish with attitude.  

Now, sometimes those super cool larger glitters can be a bit tricky because they are heavier and sink.  No problem, I found that turning the bottle upside down for a bit before polishing helped me be able to grab all the goodies.

Architectural Mailboxes is founded on the notion that mailboxes are not just products of utility, they also serve as a first impression of your home, and should enhance curb appeal and provide functionality consistent with your lifestyle.  You would think, the crazy mail lover that I am, that I would have an awesome mailbox for the postman to stuff full of all my freebies every day.  Not so much!  I have a rusty little wall mounted mailbox that I think was the original from when my Grandad bought this house in the ’50’s!   So, needless to say, I was super excited to get the opportunity to review a new one from Architectural Mailboxes on my blog.

I chose the Winston Mailbox in Oil-rubbed Bronze.  I loved the color and the sleek rounded front.  This style is post-mounted and there are several different post styles to choose from, but my husband does everything himself and wanted to build a custom post.  🙂  We haven’t stained it to match yet, but he did a good job.  I really love this mailbox!  It was a lot bigger than I had imagined and fits the style and color scheme of our house perfectly.

I have always used liquid detergent, so I was curious to try Purex UltraPacks which come in convenient single dose laundry detergent pods. Finders Keepers! …WIN a Finders Key Purse!

I have some really unique and clever products to share with you all today.  Isn’t This Clever is a company that focuses on innovative products which provide solutions to everyday problems.  They have a wide variety of creative helpful products and sent me several to review.  Keep reading to learn all about the Finders Key Purse key chain, FANtastics Pop-Up Fan, Phone Pouch and then Enter to WIN them for yourself!

Ladies, how much time have you spent digging through your purse to find your keys?  I’ll admit this used happen to me a LOT and often led to the entire contents of my purse being dumped on the counter.  When my friend shared a video about the Finders Key Purse key chain I was so intrigued  and this sounded perfect for me!  The Finders Key Purse is basically a key chain that has a decorative hook which attaches to the side of your purse, bag, briefcase or pocket.  This way you can easily find your keys because they will always be hooked to the side of your purse.  The last thing you want to be doing is digging through your purse in the parking lot while holding groceries and carrying a toddler on one hip!

It is actually the ability to hook them to my pocket that I love so much because until now when getting the kids in and out of the car, I would hang my car keys out of my pocket using the car key remote.  Well, as you can imagine, this often led to me setting off my own car alarm.  With the Finders Key Purse, I just hook my key chain to my pocket, even giving me access to the car remote so I can lock and unlock doors with ease when my hands are full.  I seriously love this clever little product and will continue using it!  They come in SO many cute designs too!  I was sent a plain silver one and a cute little red heart.  I kept the silver one, because I actually really love the simpleness of it  and I could get it engraved at some point but there a few other designs that are totally me, (like Sunny Days) and I feel like there is something for everyone …even the dudes!   I have two extra Finder Key Purse key chains so I want to give a couple of you the chance to try these products too!

The FANtastics Pop-Up Fan is another great little product to keep you cool on the go.  It is a fold up fan that is so small you can actually hook it to your Finder Keepers key chain.  It easily pops out to a nice sized fan using a technique similar to your car shades.  I can see this being really useful for those moms who spend hours in the sun cheering on their kids at sports games, or really anywhere!  It comes in several cute patterns and I love them all!  I’ll be honest though, I am always cold.  If it drops below 75, I’ll grab a sweater, haha!  So, I want to give this to one of you to enjoy.

I was also sent the Phone Pouch.  This is a protective neoprene slip cover for your phone that will even accommodate most phone covers.  You can also connect to your Finder Key Purse key chain so you are never digging through your purse to find your phone and missing your calls.  This pouch fits my iPhone perfectly, but I have an added battery case on it, so it’s a little tight and I want to give this cool little product to one of you!

Ellagee Polish and Jewelry Review …and GIVEAWAYS

Yay!  I have so many fun things from Ellagee Polish to share with you, even a couple “polish firsts” for me!  All Ellagee polishes are hand crafted by Laura in small batches with care and attention to detail. They are made with only high-quality components and are tested for separation, sinking, fading, bleeding, curling, durability and down right awesomeness.  All polishes are cruelty free, vegan and they are 5-free meaning they are free of Toluene, Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate, Camphor, and Formaldehyde Resin.  I love this!  Most handcrafted nail polishes are at least 3-free which I love, but 5-free makes me extra happy! 🙂

Today I not only have polish to share with you but Nail Polish Jewelry too!  Have you seen these yet?  Laura can put any of her polishes into rings, pendants or earrings to make beautiful and unique jewelry.  I have seen a few of these around but I love the settings that Ellagee has the best!  What is really fun, is that you can paint your nails to match for a complete set.  I ordered the Ring, Teardrop Earrings and Round Pendant in Beam Me Up over black.  It turned out so gorgeous and is actually the set pictured on her site!

Ellagee also makes cute little Nail Polish Key Chains in the polish color of your choice.  It’s funny, I misunderstood and thought the key chain was a mini polish for touch-ups on the go, but Laura had a good point …you wouldn’t what that breaking or opening in your purse! 😛  So she went ahead and sent me a real mini of Beam Me Up so I could paint my nails to match, whoohoo!  How cute are these key chains?  Wouldn’t they be great stocking stuffers for the polish lover in you life?  They have been tested for durability and can totally withstand the normal wear and tear your key chain goes through.

Beam Me Up is a sheer gold shimmer top coat that looks great over so many colors!  In all these pictures I have on 2 coats of Beam Me Up.  I didn’t need a top coat because it is super smooth and shiny on it’s own.

Laura also sent me a blogger sample of La Fée Verte which is a thermal glow-in-the-dark polish with subtle ultrafine holographic shimmer.  This polish is actually two first for me and I was SO excited!  I have never had a thermal or a glow polish, yay!  This polish is silver when it is warm and green-blue when it is cool.  Normally I’m always cold, so it stays a really awesome minty teal color, both colors are so pretty and you can get a beautiful gradient effect when it is used on long nails.  I tried so hard to get the gradient to show on my nails, but it was 93 degrees in my house that day and my tips wouldn’t stay green, haha!

…and La Fée Verte is glow-in-the-dark!  I have never owned a glow polish either, so I thought that was super cool, and just in time for Halloween!

I originally found Ellagee when I entered and won a giveaway, but my poor little prize polish got set aside while I went on a swatching and reviewing frenzy.  I finally gave It’s a Gas Gas Gas! a chance to shine and boy did she sing!  It’s a Gas Gas Gas! is a medium fuchsia with ultrafine holographic shimmer and teeny gold holo glitter, SO pretty!  In these pictures I have on 2 coats with a top coat, with and without flash.  …time to get jewelry to match! 🙂

Mod Lacquer LLC Review …Sale and Giveaway!

I have another awesome indie nail polish company to share with you today.  Jennifer from Mod Lacquer LLC sent me a blogger mini set to review and I was so excited because I have totally fallen in love with handcrafted nail polish and had been eying her beautiful lacquer for awhile now.

Mod Lacquer LLC is modern nail lacquer that is hand crafted in small batches using the newest ingredients and materials to produce the highest quality possible while maintaining the uniqueness of a hand made product.  Jennifer has a passion for nail polish so she personally designs, hand blends and tests each color.   She uses a variety of micas, pigments, glitter and a 3-free suspension base (no dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and formaldehyde) which has been tested to keep glitter in suspension with little to no settling.

I love the description of how the company name came about.  By combining two meanings for the word “mod” she had come up with a name that not only embraces being modern and fashionable, but also the modification process of creating unique and beautiful hand crafted lacquer.  When I explained this to my husband, he says, “So, “mod”, like I mod my xboxes?”  …Yes, dude, she mods polish like you mod your xboxes.  Haha, gotta love dudes!  (…not that anyone I know mods xboxes!  ehem) 😉

So, let’s see what she sent me, shall we?  First I want to show you Waxing Whimsical which is a sheer mint green jelly base with a mix of different sizes and shapes of neon pink glitter.  When I looked at the bottle I thought it looked greyish, but it is such a pretty mint green on your nails!  I didn’t see it from the outside of the bottle, so when I painted my nails and butterfly shapes came out, I think I squealed in excitement!  I don’t know why, but I really love shaped glitter, especially butterflies!!!  This had perfect coverage in 2 coats, I loved the color combo and a nice mint green was on my wish list, so this was perfect.  In these pictures I have on 2 coats and a top coat.  Can you see those little butterflies?  They are pretty subtle, but super cute!

Next I have Radical which is a bright sheer blue jelly base with bright pink glitter from the Pop Art Collection.  Cute, cute!  I love blue and pink together and this went on so great.  The pink hex glitters are actually bright neon pink, not so coral like the pictures seem.  Radical! …just like my pink and blue layered socks in ’92. 😉   This also had great coverage in 2 coats with a top coat in these pictures.

Puesta Del Sol is a pale sheer pink jelly base with a variety of different colors and sizes of glitter from Southwest Spring Collection.  Puesta Del Sol actually means “sunset” and when I saw the name and the color I was immediately taken back to a little Mexican Plaza sipping margaritas and buying pottery souvenirs.   Doesn’t it remind you of the colorful tile in those plazas?   Another great 2 coater with a top coat in these pictures.

Retro Disco turned out to be my favorite!  It is a multi-color holographic glitter polish in a clear base.  I have been wanting something just like this to try doing those fun glitter tip gradients that I have seen and this was perfect for that!  You can get total coverage in 3 coats, but just one coat is an awesome topper over any color!  On my thumb, I have 3 coats and a top coat to get the smooth glossy finish.  In the other pictures I just did a light coat on my tips and accent nail over Julep Sylvia.  OMG …every once in awhile a certain polish will put a hold on the whole swatching process and this was one of them!  I had to stop and wear this for a few days to soak in the awesomeness. LOVE it! …how ’bout you?
